Hereford June 2011 "Stone End Farm"
Friday June 24th and the yearly trip to Hereford was underway, after a 5.30 start we landed at the butty van off the M50 junction 2 on the A417. After having a breakfast barm we made our way over to Stone End Farm near Gorse,Gloucestershire .
This years trip was to see us fish some new waters and Stone End Farm was to be the first.
Below is a list of the waters we fished over the 8 days of our holiday
This years trip was to be a memorable one for myself,the highlight being a personal best carp caught at Staunton Court.
Stone End Farm
The weather at Stone End Farm was very warm with a breeze, we all chose to fish the backside of the pool looking towards the fountain.
There were fish topping and swirling in the margins, it was a new water and we did not know what we were gong to catch.
I chose to start at a twelve o'clock position at 9mtrs with the Shimano Carp Cruncher Pole,the pole was well & truly going to get a good test this week,depth of swim was approx 5 feet
In went some micros/pellets & corn, it wasn't long before I had a fish, a small roach.My next fish was a small carp that shot off like a torpedo,the pole soon brought it to the bank
As we were all close together I could here plenty of action going on,all the guys were catching well
I was catching steady with carp around the 3 to 4lbs mark, the other guys were having bigger fish upto about 8lbs
Later in the day I came into the margins using paste & prawn,both baits worked really well and my biggest fish was about 6lbs
Steve & Nelson had caught some good size fish with Steve also having a nice sized tench.
The biggest fish went to Mark Yarwood who managed to bank a 13lb ghostie with virtually his last put in,caught on the pole
Stone End Farm is also a caravan site and has other pools,it can easily be found on the internet,we had a great days fishing
There are toilets on site: Day ticket was 6 or 7 pounds
